old ambient recording surfaces…

In 1993, I recorded an instrumental / ambient ‘album’, mastered it to DAT (remember those?) and forgot about it. It resurfaced within the last year. I commissioned my friend Zack Pangborn¬†create cover art inspired by the music, and after a bit of remastering, I released it as a free download on Noisetrade. I used only one synthesizer: the GeneralMusic S2. There is also a little bit of a Speak ‘n Spell on song #2.

stepping into EDM

I’ve always been a synthesizer nut. My first keyboard was a Yamaha CS5 that my grandmother purchased for me when I was 11. By the time I was 15, I was lucky enough to have one of the first Yamaha DX7’s in the Sacramento region. As the 80’s were coming to a close, I found myself heading in the direction of jazz fusion. My first contemporary jazz album ‘Unframed Picture’ was released in 1997. This was followed up in 2000 with my very smooth jazz release ‘Right There.’

Last year, I looked back at my career in music and realized that my initial dream of playing synth-pop music had never been realized. As a result, I created a new project: self.same

I hired popular UK Producer Robbie Bronnimann to captain my electro-ship out of port and into the dance infested waters. We have been working on self.same’s debut EP for a few months and last week, we released the first single: ‘Fragments.’ The track features Shaz Sparks on vocals, and is available in two versions: ear-candy ‘album mix’ and the 4-to-the-floor club remix.

The tunes are available at all of your favorite online retailers. This is a digital only release.
